Ground Network Services (GNS)
USN provides ground network services that support Telemetry, Tracking & Control and data downlink
operations for satellites and launch systems. Our services support on-orbit missions as well as launch and early-orbit
phase (LEOP) operations. USN's services offer security
and reliability through built-in redundancies and back-up
(see PrioraNet worldwide site locations).
- Single point of interface to our global
network of ground stations.
- Access to our system through a variety
of communication means, including space standards such as
CCSDS, SGLS, IP-in-space and telecommunications services
using TCP/IP protocol.
- Convenient scheduling and operation of
the network through command centers in California, Pennsylvania
and Kiruna, Sweden.
- Supports data rates up to 160 Mbps and
has expansion plans to 600 Mbps with a variety of communication
protocols.
- Payload data reception and level-zero
processing of data in S-, X-, Ku- and L-band.
- Services include a variety of antenna
sizes from 3M to 15M.
- Equipment and capabilities can be expanded
to meet specific customer needs.
The extensive capabilities and the
high degree of flexibility provided by the USN network solution
bring substantial benefits to satellite programs. We have
experience providing ground network services on a wide variety of
missions, including satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and
Geostationary Orbit (GEO) and launch vehicle trajectories
prior to orbit insertion. In fact, on several occasions USN
has simultaneously provided services to both the launch vehicle
and the satellite being launched while continuing to maintain
communications with our other on-orbit customers. USN has
the capability to support multiple missions, the infrastructure
to communicate with many types of vehicles and the flexibility
to do it all simultaneously. These and other benefits contribute
to making USN the network of choice for ground network services.
